Admission Policy — Birendra Deepak College (BDCollege), Mahasamund
1. General Admission Guidelines
Birendra Deepak College (BDCollege) is committed to providing accessible, transparent, and merit-based admissions to all eligible candidates. The college admits students without discrimination based on gender, religion, caste, creed, or economic background, in accordance with the reservation policies of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
Admissions are open to all eligible candidates who fulfill the specific eligibility criteria for their desired course. The college reserves the right to verify all documents submitted during the admission process. Any discrepancy or falsification of documents will result in immediate cancellation of admission.
2. Eligibility Criteria
A. Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) — 4-Year NEP Course
- Minimum Qualification: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) passed from a recognized board (CGBSE, CBSE, ICSE, or equivalent).
- Minimum Marks: 40% aggregate for General category; 35% for SC/ST/OBC candidates (relaxation as per state government norms).
- Stream Requirement: Open to students from all streams (Arts, Commerce, and Science).
B. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) — Biology & Maths — 4-Year NEP Course
- Minimum Qualification: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) passed from a recognized board.
- Minimum Marks: 45% aggregate in Science stream for General category; 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- Stream Requirement: Candidates must have studied Science stream in 10+2 with relevant subjects:
- Biology Stream: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as compulsory subjects.
- Maths Stream: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects.
- Additional Requirement: Candidates who have studied both Biology and Mathematics (PCMB) are eligible for either stream.
C. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) — 4-Year Course
- Minimum Qualification: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) passed from a recognized board.
- Minimum Marks: 45% aggregate in Science stream (PCB) for General category; 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- Stream Requirement: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as compulsory subjects. English must be one of the subjects in 10+2.
- Age Limit: Minimum 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year. No upper age limit for female candidates; male candidates up to 28 years (relaxation as per government norms).
- Medical Fitness: Candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
- Additional Requirement: Admission may be subject to a college-level entrance test or merit-based counseling as per Indian Nursing Council (INC) guidelines.
D. Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA)
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 pattern) from a recognized university in any discipline.
- Minimum Marks: 45% aggregate in graduation for General category; 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- Stream Requirement: Open to graduates from all streams. Basic computer knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.
- Additional Requirement: Candidates appearing in final year graduation exams may apply provisionally, subject to submission of final marksheet before the admission deadline.
3. Admission Procedure
Step 1: Online/Offline Application
Candidates can obtain the admission form either:
- Online: Through the official BDCollege website (www.bdcollege.edu.in)
- Offline: From the college admission office during working hours (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Saturday).
The application form must be filled accurately with all required details. Incomplete or incorrect forms will be rejected.
Step 2: Document Submission
Applicants must submit self-attested photocopies of the following documents along with the admission form:
1. 10th Marksheet and Certificate (for date of birth proof)
2. 12th Marksheet and Certificate
3. Graduation Marksheet and Degree Certificate (for PGDCA applicants)
4. Transfer Certificate (TC) from previous institution
5. Migration Certificate (for students from other boards/universities)
6. Caste Certificate (if applicable — SC/ST/OBC)
7. Income Certificate (for scholarship purposes, if applicable)
8. Aadhar Card (photocopy)
9. Passport-size Photographs (4 recent color photographs)
10. Medical Fitness Certificate (for B.Sc. Nursing applicants)
11. Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
Step 3: Merit List and Counseling
- Admissions are strictly based on merit determined by the marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2 or graduation).
- A provisional merit list will be displayed on the college notice board and website.
- Candidates whose names appear on the merit list must appear for counseling/document verification on the specified date.
- Failure to attend counseling on the scheduled date will result in forfeiture of the admission claim.
Step 4: Fee Payment and Admission Confirmation
- Selected candidates must pay the admission fee and first installment of tuition fee within the specified deadline.
- Upon successful fee payment, the candidate will receive a provisional admission letter.
- Admission is confirmed only after original document verification and receipt of all required certificates.
4. Reservation Policy
BDCollege follows the reservation policy of the Government of Chhattisgarh for admissions:
Scheduled Caste (SC) - 12%
Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 32%
Other Backward Classes (OBC) - 14%
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) - 10%
Note: Reservation percentages may vary as per updated state government notifications. Horizontal reservation cuts across all categories.
5. Cancellation and Refund Policy
A. Cancellation by Student
- A student may apply for admission cancellation by submitting a written application to the admission office.
- Refund Rules:
- Cancellation before course commencement: 90% of tuition fee refunded (processing fee deducted).
- Cancellation within 15 days of course commencement: 70% of tuition fee refunded.
- Cancellation after 15 days of course commencement: No refund of tuition fee.
- Admission/Registration fee, examination fee, and development fee are non-refundable at any stage.
B. Cancellation by College
The college reserves the right to cancel admission under the following circumstances:
- Submission of false or forged documents.
- Failure to meet eligibility criteria detected after admission.
- Non-payment of fees within the stipulated deadline.
- Violation of college disciplinary rules.
- Non-attendance for more than 30 consecutive days without prior permission.
6. Attendance Policy
- Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory for all courses as per university/board guidelines.
- Students failing to meet the minimum attendance requirement will be debarred from appearing in examinations.
- Medical leaves must be supported by valid medical certificates and must be approved by the Principal.
- Attendance is calculated separately for theory and practical sessions.
7. Code of Conduct
All admitted students are expected to:
- Maintain discipline and decorum within the college campus.
- Respect faculty members, staff, and fellow students.
- Wear the prescribed college uniform (for Nursing students) and carry identity cards at all times.
- Refrain from ragging, harassment, substance abuse, and any form of misconduct. Ragging is a criminal offense and strict action will be taken under UGC/AICTE/INC regulations.
- Keep the campus clean and avoid damaging college property.
- Use mobile phones only in designated areas and not during lectures/practical sessions.
Disciplinary Action: Violation of the code of conduct may result in suspension, fine, or expulsion from the college.
8. Scholarship and Financial Assistance
BDCollege assists eligible students in applying for various scholarships offered by the Government of Chhattisgarh and the Government of India, including:
- Post-Matric Scholarship (SC/ST/OBC)
- Medhavi Yojana Scholarship
- National Scholarship Portal (NSP) schemes
- Minority Scholarship
- EWS Fee Reimbursement
Students must submit necessary documents (income certificate, caste certificate, bank account details, Aadhar linked bank account) within the specified deadline for scholarship applications.
